An Easy Way to Solo on Guitar using Pentatonic shapes

Here is one way to use pentatonic shapes to solo in either a Major or Minor key.

These are two simple 5 note shapes, not the 6 string shapes found in 5 positions. I will cover those in a later lesson.

For beginners – This is a good way to get started because you use only two fingers but it covers over 15 frets. You will also learn how octaves work which in one of the most powerful tools for guitar.

Intermediate – You may already have your pentatonics down but this may help you with connecting the shapes or just force you to phrase differently which could spice up your playing.
